The mate’s position brings with it total responsibility for the exterior of the yacht. Some vessels will require the mate to participate in navigation and passage planning and they are often responsible for documentation, safety and security aboard.
Generally, the mate is ready, willing and able to step up into the captain's position should the need arise.
First time mate:

Experienced Senior (2nd) Stewardess for a 70-m private M/Y in the Med

We are looking for an experienced 2nd Stewardess to join 70-m private motor yacht cruising this summer around Europe. The crew are very well looked after on board and the yacht is simply stunning, the owners are very passionate about “their second home”.
This position will understudy the Chief Stewardess who manages a team of nine interior crew and be responsible for the general day to day running of the department. The role requires proven experience with at least one full year as a 2nd Stewardess on board a yacht of 60m+ or Chief Stewardess on a smaller yacht.
You will assist in the management and training of the interior crew, oversee maintenance, uniform and detailed inventory requirements and ensure standards and procedures are upheld to the highest level. Guest service is very hands-on during the summer months hence a candidate with confidence, maturity, an eye for detail and a professional disposition is required.
For this highly sought after role, you will have the following attributes;

Salary and benefits will be discussed during the interview process, pending experience. Candidate must be ENG1 and STCW95 Basic Safety Training certified plus Security Awareness. References will be contacted and background checks conducted.
